Suggestion for a cold channeled spell: Rimefall
Posted another thread on the topic of cold channeled spells, and the disappointment that we still won't have one in 3.1 from the look of things, so i figured I'll propose one.
The concept is similar to something we already see in the game: it's a singular cold version of the sustained vertical rays that Suncaller Asha (High Gardens boss) and some of the Vinktar Square bosses use. It would call down one cold version of this ray, dealing damage over time around its center, and could be guided around with the cursor (probably with a base travel speed that gets faster with higher cast speed). My thinking is it would look something like this: ![]() It's somewhat similar to scorching ray in some ways... remaining in the ray will build up higher damage, and intensify the chill effect rather than lowering res. I figure that much like SR, debuff stacks would be added with each cast interval. However unlike SR, the DoT would stop immediately upon leaving the ray's aoe (which means it would be considered area damage), though the chill debuff stages would remain for their full duration. I'm thinking/hoping that chill/ailment duration as well as skill duration would both be able to apply the the chill debuff, and that increased chill effect would indeed amplify the strength of the chill (up to the 30% max). This would mean investment into chill/ailment modifers would be useful... duration would ofc extend the chill but also the 'more damage taken' so enemies could be outside the ray for longer without losing all stages built up, and effect would increase the crowd control you could apply with it. And ofc the numbers and whatnot are up for balancing. I figure the damage per second at the initial stage should be close to Scorching Ray's, and wind up slightly lower at max stacks (with the added crowd control making up for it).
